cute Stories from the Crib

OK...I think I promised this a while ago and I feel like I have so much to share that I have been remiss in sharing these stories earlier...Chad says if I was in school I would have racked up 20 tardies by now and a couple trips to detention. But I guess better late than never is going to have to apply here...after all I do have 10 month old twins :-) ...(ummm, weeer wun weeek uhway frum Eeeleven munths, momm momm momm momm momma) luv EMann aNd sWEeet Pea (ooops...heer komes momm momm momm momm momma....ghot tu go)

Seeing that I am so delinquent my time frame may not be so accurate but the stories are what really count right???

Story 1 is truly from the crib LOL
Evan has completely destroyed his bumper...he is definitely all boy. I will have to post a picture of it. Taryn's on the other hand is perfect and as beautiful as it was the day she took up residence in her crib...on the other side of the twin resort, Evan's is smooshed flatter than a pancake, never to resume its original form again. He likes to stand on it why he waits for us to come and get him in the morning and after naps. I bought a new one for him because he seems to love cuddling his bumper while he sleeps. Our attempt to take it out was met with resounding cries (which translated to "I want my pancake back!) and he just didn't sleep soundly without it . Thank goodness Restoration Hardware had one on clearance for $40.00, I couldn't pay full price for another one (or at least not without visiting his piggy bank :-))

Story 2
About 6 weeks or so ago I had been trying to teach Evan and Taryn to clap. I had been working w/ Evan and he would do it w/ my help but not w/o. So I was sitting across the room playing w/ Taryn and we started clapping and all of a sudden I looked up to see Evan across the room clapping w/ us. I was so proud of my little man, seeing that he had picked up his new trick and was learning well. Now he claps all the time, especially when you give him a prompting of "Yeahhhh". It took Taryn a couple weeks to learn to clap on her own but now it is so fun to just see them randomly start clapping.

Story 3 - The Twin Bond #1
About 2 weeks ago, Evan was having a rough day and while he was having one of his melt downs I walked away as my presence didn't seem to be helping his break down any. After a few minutes, I returned to check on him...and found that Taryn had crawled over to him to be by his side as if to try to soothe him because she could feel/see that he wasn't so happy...it was the sweetest thing to see. I love that they are already showing compassion for one another.

Story 4 - The Twin Bond #2
The other night at dinner Taryn was jabbering away and Evan was sitting in his high chair next to her and just laughing his head off...he was laughing so hard he was throwing his head back just belly laughing. It was so funny. Chad and I were looking at each other thinking hmmm, I wonder what was so funny. According to Evan, Taryn is a riot...sure can't wait to know what she is saying I could use a laugh or two during the day :-)

Story 5 - Nap times aren't quite as smooth as they once were, now that the babies are standing. They love to stand in their cribs and look at each other and you can hear them just talking away and laughing at each other. The dr. warned us at our 9 month appointment that twins tend to develop their own language so he cautioned us to work w/them so that they don't get lost in their own world and not learn to communicate w/the rest of us. If these early signs point to things to come, I think we are in trouble LOL.

Story 6 - Evan is a sweet, sweet boy. He has been accused by some of being a mama's boy but I don't mind...I want him to be my boy. During play time he will often stop playing and crawl over to me and lay his head on me and suck his thumb...sometimes for just a few seconds and sometimes for a few minutes...it doesn't matter how long it lasts, every time he does it I just close my eyes and soak up the moment...so, so sweet!!!!!! I love my little man!!!!

Update
Taryn is trying to grow up way too fast for my taste. She has dropped all but 2 of her nursing sessions...so I guess weaning isn't going to be a difficult process for us. We are down to nursing morning and night. She refuses a bottle as well. My biggest hang up w/ this is she is already so small she really needs her milk. So I give her coconut milk mixed w/ formula in a sippy cup (that is the only way I can get her to drink formula). She is actually doing really well w/ the transition. I have her drinking anywhere between 8-10oz a day from her sippy. Due to Taryn's nursing strike my supply plummeted so I stopped nursing Evan during the day as well and have him on 2 bottles a day...thankfully he will take the bottle and it is so cute to see him hold it himself....he is growing up so fast too. He doesn't seem to mind the transition either. So I think we will be completely weaned by 1 year....which I have mixed feelings about...there is a part of me that is so ready to be done and another part of me that knows once we are done we are done and regardless of how hard it has been there is something very special about nursing your child.
My new challenge is finding a sippy that they like and can drink well from that doesn't spill/leak everywhere...I have some great ones that are easy for them to drink from but when they like to throw it across the room or toss it around milk goes everywhere and I am not very keen on the idea of my carpets in every room smelling like milk/formula or whatever.

Taryn's "rebellion" of sorts being nursing, Evan has his too: food purees. He is just about done w/ them and has stated his case that he prefers food that has not been blended to liquid state. So I am accommodating as much as I am comfortable w/ and trying to add more and more solid foods to his (and Taryn's) daily menu. I finally got them to eat bananas, Yay, of course I had to roll them in wheat germ and graham cracker crumbs but whatever works :-). They love waffles, pancakes and butter biscuits. We have tried apple and strawberry muffins, grilled cheese, mac-n-cheese, ravioli, chicken nuggets, beans, peas, carrots, broccoli, squash, and sweet potato fries. They really like all their veggies and surprisingly they loved the beans. Taryn loves to put as many handfuls of food in her mouth as possible...so that when she's stuffing (I mean eating), she looks like a red-headed chipmunk :-); and actually scares me a bit...so I just watch her closely and say lots of prayers

They are just growing so fast...they are so sweet and so loving and we are just enjoying every day we have with them.

We will close this post w/ some super cute photo's of our little angle babies on Valentines day :-)

Taryn's other side :-) ahhh....I love her so much :-)

Look at that sweet face

So precious :-)

Breaking News!!!!

OK I probably should have posted this a couple days ago but time just seems to slip away these days. But the big news is Taryn finally has a tooth...at 10M2W3d Taryn's first tooth cut through. YAY, we are so excited for our baby girl. Evan keeps reminding me that I need to let everyone know he has 6 teeth now LOL cant leave the cutie pie boy out :-).

Mr. Personality!!!!

Our First Snow

With all the snow everywhere else in this country I guess it is only fair that we get our share as well. It was so fun to watch the snow fall this afternoon and of course we couldnt wait to don our "cold weather" gear and go have some fun :-). Evan loved the snow I am pretty sure he is already dreaming of having a 'White Christmas' next year in Boise w/ Grandma and Grandpa. It will be more fun when they can toddle around in it, for us and for them.

What would a first snow be w/o a sled ride? Well, not much of one at all. So Chad being the awesome daddy that he is crawled into the attic and pulled our our sled so the kiddies could go on their first sled ride. Evan ate it up and Taryn is still trying to figure it all out LOL :-)

Look At Us Go

Evan and Taryn received this really cool toy for Christmas from our dear friends and they love it. Taryn managed to take 4 steps w/ it on Christmas Day but they really have not done much 'walking' w/ it although they do play w/ it just about every day. I haven't encouraged much walking as it scares me, I am always afraid they are going to fall and hurt themselves. Mostly because it always appears that they toy is walking them rather then them walking the toy LOL. But things changed drastically this weekend when Taryn took off w/ the toy like she has been walking forever :-). Every time she walks w/ it she always gets a big smile on her face like she is so proud of herself!!!!

10 Months

Wow has a whole month already gone by. I swear I do not know where the time is going. We are just plugging away here day by day. The babies are continuing to grow and learn more and more every day. I really need to be better about getting on here and documenting the cute things they do but time always seems to have a way of escaping me. I know all everyone really wants to see is pictures anyway. So w/o further delay here they are.

I have to admit it is not very easy getting photos of these two munchkins these days. They are all over the place, wont sit still or together and if I do manage to get sitting next to each other as soon as I point the camera they start crawling towards me...they are very interested in the camera these days :-).
